Some Comments

Zushe said...

Rabbi Moshe Bryski and singer, Benny Friedman, together gave the audience a "taste" of Shabbos "delight" at the "soulular" level.

The words and stories about real people and their own unique and memorable Shabbos observance, combined with the powerful melodies of Shabbos, captured anyone Jewish and tied them to the root of their heritage and the core of their identity.

When Rabbi Bryski's father, who was visiting from New York to celebrate a string of family "simchas", took the stage to dance in a circle to the music, the energy in the room ascended to an even higher dimension.

Then, to top off the evening, a delicious hot serving of chicken soup with matzo balls provided yet, another level of Shabbos "delight" for the senses.

"Way to go"!

The Songs & Stories of Shabbat!

Many hearts were stirred and even a few tears were shed last Thursday in the West Valley Jewish Community Center as Chassidic vocalist Benny Friedman captivated the hearts and minds of a sell-out crowd for the opening of his new show entitled "The Songs and Stories of Shabbat." He was accompanied by Rabbi Moshe D. Bryski of Chabad of the Conejo, who held the audience spellbound through his moving narration, a spiritual tour through the day of rest. Starting off the show with a prayer for the safety and security of our brothers and sisters in Israel was Rabbi Avi Rabin of Chabad of West Hills, who was introduced by concert producer Rabbi Eli Friedman of Chabad of Calabasas.

Then the show started.

Ladies and gentlemen, the songs and stories of shabbat.

The lights went down. Soft piano music could be heard as Benny took the stage. Mizmor Shir L'yom Hashabos, the whole world is waiting to sing the song of Shabbat. Then Rabbi Bryski spoke about the greatest of all worldly possessions, the home. The home with the family, and the woman who creates it. My mother's Shabbat candles, followed by a special Sabbath prayer. I could keep going if you're really interested.
